AMS had the privilege of being invited to Air Asia's launch of its Cabin Crew Challenge Campaign recently.
Held at Rebonz Space at Clifford Centre, the entrance was akin to a VIP Gala event, with the media & cameramen present.

After the "Check-in" counter, guests 'boarded' by ascending some steps up into a cabin.
On a runway (the fashion kind!), a large screen played various Air Asia videos. When the show began, curtain lifted to reveal a real-live Air Asia cabin crew behind a cabin mockup! She then performed the cabin and safety briefing for the guests. It was a real treat, even after having seen so many of these demos on the numerous flights we have been on!
A video then played, where many Air Asia staff, known as "All Stars", talked about how Air Asia had made their dreams come true & how they love being part of the Air Asia family. This included Kathleen Tan, Group Head of Commercial and V. Loganathan, CEO Air Asia Singapore.
The emcee then invited Air Asia's Group Head of Commercial, Ms Kathleen Tan up on stage, where she shared her story of how she joined Air Asia and the initial challenges they faced.
There was then a surprise, as Mr Loganathan came up on stage to present her a bouquet of flowers and a framed ad, congratulating her for being awarded the Web In Travel (WIT) Marketer of the Year award.
Ms Tan was nearly brought to tears, when she heard that Air Asia's founder, Dato' Fernandes, had copywrited the ad himself.
Mr Loganathan then shared his own experiences, in the start up of Air Asia's operations in Singapore and how there was not even an office to work out off and how he operated using a laptop at the checkin counter! He recounted how through much hardwork, long hours and assistance, they pulled through. He also acknowledge and thank Mr Abbas Ismail, Section Head from our Diploma in Aviation Management & Services, for his friendship and support. (Abbas was with CAAS at the time).
Ms Tan and Mr Loganathan then shared the details of the Air Asia Cabin Crew Challenge and how Temasek Polytechnic would be one of the locations where contestants can sign up for the challenge. (We are the only Polytechnic with this privilege!).
Postscript: Day One of the challenge has been most exciting with many students taking part. For uploading their video and signing on at the booth, they won themselves a $50 travel voucher!
