Open House / JAE 2011 Series
 Distinguished Visitors Programme

In AMS, we have the privilege of inviting respected figures of the aviation industry as part of our Distinguished Visitors Programme to speak to our students.

Notable names include:

Mr Roberto Kobeh Gonzalez
President, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Council

ICAO is a specialised agency of the United Nations, responsible for the safe and orderly development of all aspects of international civil aviation.

Greeted warmly by our passionate staff and students, Mr Kobeh was not only humbled by our warm welcome, but also impressed with our aviation training programmes. Furthermore, Mr Kobeh addressed various topics including the aviation industry and our aviation programmes.

In his own words, 'By working with educational institutions like TP, we stand to increase our pool of future aviation experts, tailor their skills to suit the future direction of the industry and complement the global pool of skilled aviation personnel.'

A handful of lucky students had the honour of conversing with Mr Kobeh, whom answered their queries with much enthusiasm. Mr Kobeh concluded his visit with an inspirational message for all aspiring aviators.

" Keep the passion alive in whatever you do. Don't be daunted by passing difficulties. If aviation is your chosen field, remember that the industry has always, always bounced back from setbacks stronger than before. The clouds are dissipating on the horizon. Your time is coming."

Dr John P. Johnson
President, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University

Dr Johnson held a dialogue session with students of AMS, where he formally introduced Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Furthermore, Dr Johnson spoke on the collaboration with Temasek Polytechnic on future joint research. Seems like our AMS students are on a good start to a highly sought degree!

Captain Leonard McCully
President and General Manager, Singapore Flying College
Former Singapore Airlines Captain
Star of the Singapore Airlines cabin safety video (former)

Captain McCully shared his various experiences in the aviation industry, both as a pilot and an instructor, and encouraged all who had the passion for flying to always keep it burning. He also introduced the Singapore Flying College as a platform for aspiring pilots to pursue their dreams.

Captain Gerard Peacock
Deputy Chief Pilot, A380 Fleet, Singapore Airlines

Captain Peacock provided us with an interesting and insightful new look at the world's biggest commercial airliner, the Airbus A380. Singapore Airlines is the launch customer for this aircraft.
