OVERSEAS TRIP TO EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL
UNIVERSITY (ERAU), FLORIDA, USA
Students from our Diplomas in Aviation Management & Services (AMS), Aerospace Electronics (AEL) and Aerospace Engineering (AEG) recently went to Florida, USA, for an overseas study trip.
At Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), they got an inside look into what university life is, at one of the top aviation universities in the U.S.
“The trip was a eye opener for me. I
experienced first-hand the life style of overseas students” -- Yeo Ze Xian
(AEL)
In addition to tours of the campus,
students got to see various laboratories & facilities on the cutting-edge
of aviation research. The campus itself is right next door to Daytona Beach
Airport, thus making it easy for them to have their pilot training.
“The ERAU Summer Programme gave me an
insight on airplane systems and how they work. It also allowed me to have a
feel on how being a pilot would be like.” – Lim Min Yang (AEG)
Our students were also able to have
hands-on experience on the advanced flight simulators, including the Wright
Simulator, which simulates flying the first ever powered aircraft.
The highlight of the trip was the visit to
the Kennedy Space Centre, where they got to learn about NASA’s history and its
achievements.
“The trip was memorable. We went to the GAT
TRAINER which thought us about out vestibular system. The GAT TRAINER was
something unique and doubt it’s found in Singapore. It is related to my course
as we are thought about our vestibular system above a certain amount of feet
and how we feel (Nausea, headaches etc.). Really Cool.” -- Dhrue Ketankumar
Goda (AMS)
“The highlight of the trip was definitely the visit to the Kennedy Space Centre where we learnt a lot about NASA and its history. Overall, the trip was awesome!” – Jeremy Wong (AMS)
But it was not all related to studies. The
students also got to go to Universal Studios Florida and Daytona Beach (to
watch the sunrise!), amongst many others.
The students got to share their experience
with the rest of their schoolmates and we certainly look forward to there being
a trip next year!
