JAE 2010 DAY 3

Hey All! JAE 2010 has started, hope you guys did well for your GCE 'O' Levels. If you have any questions regarding JAE, click THIS.

Here's another brief look into Aviation Management & Services.

For a start, many of you are interested in the modules offered in AMS. So take a look at THIS site for information on our Course Structure. You can also refer to THIS to understand more about the modules.

Secondly, here's a look into the internships offered in AMS :

At AMS, you can look forward to a wide spectrum of careers in Operations & Customer Services, Flight Operations, Air Traffic Control, Inflight Hospitality, Aviation Commercial Development, Marketing & Management etc. with Airport Operators, Airlines, Civil Aviation Authorities, Ground Handling Companies, Air Cargo Companies and so on.

Take a look at some of our previous internships & what our students have to say about their experiences :

1. Tiger Airways

" We are the only Polytechinc where students get to fly as part of their diploma course. During the internship, students will learn about in- flight operations, customer service & cabin safety. And during the last month of the internship, they will be rotated around the different Tiger Airways departments to get a unique overview of how an airline operates. This will give our AMS students unparalleled exposure and experience. I am confident that employers will make a beeline for them once they graduate. "
Diploma in AMS, Course Manager, Mr Paul Yap

2. Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS)

By Harresh Krishnan

We were attached to the CAAS' Aerodrome Safety Unit, which monitors and ensures the safety of flight operations and air navigation services. Our job was to develop an Aerordrome Safety Portal for monitoring and evaluating safety procedures.

We need to have an understanding of operations on the ground, so we often go to the aerodrome to carry out checks and observe the safety procedures. There's no substitute for real experience.

I have also learnt that having a good working relationship with colleagues is vital. In school, we have the luxury of choosing our group mates. But in the working world, we have to be able to work with anyone and still produce results. That's the big difference!

I feel lucky to be in the AMS diploma, because the prospects for the aviation sector are fantastic. Just ask yourself - how can the world do without airports & aircraft?
